Why did you join this class?

I joined this class to learn about filmmaking. I know there is a lot that goes into each part of making a film. I want to get experience in each part. Also, I love watching the Gawlik Awards and want to help make a film that gets nominated.

What do you hope to gain from taking this class?

I want to understand how to properly use light for a film. I want to become confident being in front of the camera by the end of the class. I want to get a much better idea of how films are edited and perfected.

What do you know about cinematography?

There are a lot of different parts of making film and therefore a lot of different jobs people have to do to make a film good.

What do you want to know about cinematography?

I want to know how to handle all parts of editing video for a final product. I want to learn how to add sound effects and create moving graphics for films.

What type of films would you like to make?

I want to help make action and comedy films. I don't necessarily want to make horror films, but I do want to be part of atleast one this semester. I want to see how myclassmates make decisions on the lighting and setting and props to add to the scary effect of the film. The idea of making a film as scary as possible interests me.

What are three of your favorite movies?-embed trailers or screen shots and explain why you enjoy these films.

My favorite movie is Avatar. It is so awesome to watch the characters go through the world of Pandora. The planet is like the most amazing places on Earth, but on a much larger scale. I also getting strongly connected emotionally every time I watch it. And the action parts of the movie are awesome.

My second favorite movie is Inception. I love the special effects in the dream scenes. I also love the concept of the dreams within another dream. It is a complicated, deep movie, but it is also enjoyable to follow the story.

Another of my favorite movies is Lone Survivor. It is really intense and attention-capturing. I feel like the climax of the movie, which is pretty long, is set up well.

What is your favorite movie genre?

My favorite genre is action with science fiction. I enjoy the action parts of movies and like the special effects of science fiction movies. I like watching many different genres of movies, but action is probably my favorite.

I would probably enjoy horror movies more, but they scare me whenever I think about afterwards. The Conjuring bothered me for months after I watched the whole thing, at night.

What motivates you to work hard?

I am motivated to work harder when I can see the final outcome of a project that I've been working on for a long time. If I know that I can finish the project soon, am am able to put all my attention into it and make an even better final piece.

What are five concerns that you have now in your life?

I am worried about what I will do for college next year. I have no idea for sure where I want to go.

I play football which takes up a lot of time, but I also want to win a championship in basketball this year, which takes offseason work.

I have to wait for my mustache to grow back.

I want to watch more of the 100 best films of all time, but I don't have much extra time.

What was your favorite subject in school? Why?

Even though Cinematography will most likely be my favorite class by the end of the semester, my favorite classes so far have been woodworking, 2D and 3D design, and engineering class. I like designing things, and building them myself. I also enjoy creating projects with partners. I just really prefer to do the building myself, however large the group.
